Monon Grade Crossing Signal

Initial Assembly

At this point, the signal was erected next to the resident US&S TP-5, and the sign was installed. Despite wanting to remain true to the prototype, a full-size replica was just too big. I settled on a sign of 2' x 2' in place of the ~32" x ~32" of the original.

Keeping true to the goal of buying as little as possible, the supports for the sign were fabbed from pieces of ladder from a scrapped railroad signal, as was the hardware. This is precisely why I throw away nothing until I am absolutely certain it is no longer of any use.
