Monon Grade Crossing Signal

Signal Heads -Part I

The Monon used Crouse Hinds Type D, "Art Deco" signal heads, which I'm sure were plentiful in the late 1930s/early 1940s. Today they command a premium price in collector circles and if this was a dead-on reproduction, I would acquire some. However, I decided to use a later model 8" C.H. aluminum head to keep the cost down. As luck would have it, a friend had the light on the left available. As seen in the pic, it had "tunnel" visors, which were altered to the more appropriate "cutaway" type.
